"The earliest recording on CD available of Blonk's work with his trio, Braaxtaal is a wild romp through the sound poet's bizarre and surrealistic world, where one is as likely to be shocked as surprised. While its musical value may be questioned at times, its authenticity and originality grab you the minute you spin the disc. Percussionist Theo Bodewes and synth manipulator Rob Daenen join Blonk in creating ten Blonk originals. Some, like "All Day Belly Rumble," amuse, albeit perversely. Others, like the extended "Spraakwater," impress with the diversity of colors. While the CD leaflet contains some of the distorted "lyrics," liner notes would have been helpful for most listeners. Not for the queasy, Braxtaal spares no prisoners and knows few limits, which, ironically, are both its major strength and weakness. While there are better examples of Blonk's work available, this recording offers plenty of worthwhile moments." -Steve Loewy, AllMusic
